Ryan Named Bone Crusher of the Week
Channel 5 has named Patrick Ryan as the WNEM Bone Daddy's BBQ Bone Crusher Player of the week. Patrick's hit came early in the 4th quarter preventing the Fenton running back from the end zone on a 2 point conversion which would have tied the game. Patrick followed later in the quarter with a pass break up that prevented the go ahead score. Click here to watch the game footage! Great job Patrick!!
Coach Denny Hopkins recorded his 100th varsity football win with a 17-15 win in the season opener against Metro League opponent Fenton. The Eagles started off a bit slow allowing a long TD pass on the second play of the game to go down 0-7, but rallied with a sustained drive that was capped by Shaye Brown's TD run with the PAT by Cameron Cook. Cook scored again on a 27 yard field goal to put the Eagles up 10-9 at the half. Brown connected with Mitch Juhl on a 73 yard pass play for a TD early in the third quarter to put the Eagles on top 17-9. Despite several visits to the red zone, Linden failed to put up any more points on the scoreboard and leaned on their stout defense to hang on for the win. Senior Patrick Ryan came up big with a great hit to break up a pass play on 3rd down from the 27 forcing a failed Tiger field goal attempt that fell short and sealed the Eagle victory. Shaye Brown went 23/38 with 344 yards in the air and 69 yards on the ground. Travis Hull had 9 receptions for 118 yards on offense and 2 interceptions on defense.
